Philadelphia Children's Hospital Supports In-Person Education
Sat Jan 08, 2022 4:20 am
In the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) encourages in-person education and has altered its rules for school cancellations.
With "evidence that COVID-19 is becoming a milder illness in most children," CHOP's updated guidelines come "at a time when all adults and teenagers in K-12 settings have been provided immunization."
In its recommendation for schools, CHOP said, "Throughout the COVID-19 epidemic, schools (and especially students) have been required to carry a major cost to prevent the danger of catastrophic illness in an unvaccinated populace." "Now that everyone in K-12 school communities has been vaccinated, the competing hazards to children of lost education and social isolation from protracted school closures are considerably more serious than COVID-19 itself."
